new year.

It's been a while since I've written. During the holidays it feels like one actually has a life to live and so it is that I've been busy with a whirlwind of activities, so much so that I haven't really found the time amidst all of it to write it all down diligently. So much has happened, and in the blink of an eye we've stepped across into the new year.

Year on year. After two decades or so, it gets kind of tiring. Why do we do this anyway? Each year seems to signal a new start, as though the mark of a new year will allow one to erase everything that happened and start on a clean slate. But beginnings are not marked by time.

"Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out."
- Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper

The past year has been a very eventful one, filled with things both happy and sad. I travelled to many places, saw amazing sights, met many people, ate a lot of good food, made things, lost a loved one, found a new love, had to deal with the stress of finding a TC, made some major decisions about my life, etc.

I can only hope that this year I will learn as much as I did last year. To an exciting year ahead!
